Clarke now lives in Ross-shire with his artist wife, Pat
Semple.
Clarke aims to make each portrait a unique experience, responsive
to the sitter's character and environment and unlike any of
his previous portraits. He prefers to carry these out in the
sitter's home, and this is an essential in the case of Family
Groups. Where appropriate, he likes to paint them out of doors.
The colour construction of a painting is a vital element.
He has painted many public as well as private individuals,
and a large number of Family Groups.
Clarke is well known as a Landscape painter in both water-colour
and oils, and paints animals and works of an imaginative nature.
His works are in public and private collections. |
