The Royal Society of Portrait Painters is a registered charity which aims to promote, maintain, improve and advance education in the Fine Arts and in particular to encourage the appreciation, study and practice of the art of portraiture.

This web site is a showcase for the Society, containing within the members section, examples of artists works and their resumés.

We hope you will enjoy exploring the richness and diversity of styles of our members, and may even be inspired to commission a work yourself.

If you would like to contact individual artists directly, use the links at the top of members' personal pages for further advice.

Finally, if you are a portrait artist looking to develop your career, you may wish to enter one of the annual competitions we run. Details of these are in the prizes section.

Press Release: Anastasia Pollard has won the prestigious £10,000 Ondaatje Prize for Portraiture
Artist Anastsia Pollard was awarded the top prize at the prestigious Royal Society of Portrait Painters exhibition for her portrait ‘Valentina’. The quiet portrait depicts, unusually, an artist who also has work in the Royal Society of Portrait Painters’ exhibition – Valentina Zlatarova.

Anastasia studied at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Florence Academy of Art and has exhibited in the BP Portrait Award Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, London. She became a Member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in 2006.

The Ondaatje Prize for Portraiture is awarded annually, by a panel of judges, to the painter of the most distinguished painting in the Society’s annual exhibition. It is one of the most illustrious and eminent awards made in the art world today and the winner receives £10,000 plus the Society’s Gold Medal.

Anastasia’s winning painting ‘Valentina’ can be seen at the Mall Galleries, The Mall, London SW1 (near Trafalgar Square). See more of Anastasia Pollard's work >>
